Accepting new SEO enquiries

Tell us about your site and we will tell you what we see

Send us the URL, your target market and the problem you are trying to solve. We look at the site before replying, so the first thing you get back is a set of observations about your search visibility rather than a brochure.

What to include in your message

None of this is mandatory, but the more of it you send, the more specific our first reply can be. Two lines and a URL is enough to get started.

  • What you sell, and to whomServices or products, and whether you are selling to consumers or other businesses.
  • Your target marketNational, a set of cities, or a specific area. Tell us if you are trading in both the US and UK.
  • The SEO problem you are facingTraffic that dropped, rankings that will not move, a migration that went wrong, or a new site with no visibility yet.
  • Which services you are consideringAn audit, technical work, content, local search, links, or a full program. Unsure is a perfectly good answer.
  • What has already been triedPrevious agencies, in-house work, or tools you are using. It saves us both repeating things that did not work.

    What happens next, in order

No automated sequence, no drip campaign, and nobody chasing you for a call you did not ask for.

We read it and look at your site

A quick pass over your pages, index footprint and the results you are competing in. This happens before anyone types a reply.

    You get real observations back

Two or three specific things we noticed, what they are likely costing you, and any questions we need answered to say more. If we think SEO is the wrong spend for you right now, we will say that instead.

A short call, if it is useful

A conversation about your market, your goals and what a sensible first phase looks like. No slide deck, no pressure to decide on the call.

    A scoped proposal

What we would do, in what order, with the reasoning attached and clear deliverables. You can take that plan elsewhere if you decide we are not the right fit.

    Where we usually start

Common reasons businesses get in touch

Most enquiries fall into one of these. If yours does not, describe it in your own words and we will work out where it fits.

Traffic dropped and nobody can say why

An update, a migration, a redesign or a slow decline nobody caught. The first job is establishing what actually changed and when, which is what an SEO audit is for.

The site was rebuilt and rankings went with it

New platform, new URLs, missing redirects, blocked templates. Usually recoverable, and the sooner it is diagnosed the less there is to undo. Starts with technical SEO.

Competitors keep appearing in the map pack

Smaller businesses outranking you locally usually points at profile completeness, review activity and location page quality rather than domain strength. That is local SEO services territory.

We publish constantly and nothing ranks

Often a mismatch between what is being written and what people actually search for, or pages competing with each other. Fixed through keyword research and content SEO.

Product pages are invisible in search

Category structure, faceted navigation and duplicate variants quietly bury large catalogues. Handled through e-commerce SEO and internal linking work.

Or pick the service you had in mind

    Before you write

Questions people ask at this stage

If yours is not here, put it in the message. We would rather answer it up front than have you guess.

You can also read more about how we work and the principles behind it, or browse our SEO insights for how we think about specific problems.

Do I need to know what service I want?

No. Describe the problem in plain terms and we will tell you which discipline it actually sits in. Quite often the service someone asks for is not the one that would help most, and it is better to find that out before any money changes hands.

Do you work with small businesses?

Yes. Smaller sites often move faster because there is less technical debt and fewer people between a recommendation and its implementation. What matters more than company size is whether there is real search demand in your market to capture.

Will you give me an idea of cost in the first reply?

We will give you a sense of the scale of work involved once we have seen the site. An accurate figure needs a proper look at the state of the site and the competitiveness of the market, so anyone quoting from a one-line brief is guessing.

    What access will you need?

Nothing at the enquiry stage beyond your URL. If we start work, we will ask for read access to analytics and Search Console, and eventually the CMS. Accounts stay in your name throughout, and you keep everything if the relationship ends.

We are outside the US and UK. Can you still help?

Those are the markets we work in most, so that is where our knowledge of the search results is strongest. Tell us where you operate and we will be straight with you about whether we are the right team for it.

Can you work alongside our in-house team or web developer?

Often that is the best arrangement. We can provide the strategy, audits and specifications while your developers implement, or take on the implementation ourselves. Tell us how your team is set up and we will suggest a split that avoids duplicated work.

    One more thing

An enquiry is not a commitment

Getting in touch costs you an email and gets you a considered opinion on your search visibility. Whether that turns into work is a separate decision, and one you should take slowly.

If we are not the right fit, we will say so and point you toward what would help. That is not a sales technique. It is just faster for everyone than three weeks of polite emails.
